Mitchell’s Auto Supplies Limited was incorporated in 1973 with principal Shareholder/Director being the late Mr. Roal Mitchell. The business started at 153 Orange Street and was relocated in 1983 to 61 Hagley Park Road. In the latter part of 1994, when Mr. Mitchell had decided to retire from the business, Mr. Lytttleton Shirley was approached as the ideal candidate to develop the promise of the enterprise.
In November 1994, all the assets, including land, stock and building of Mitchell’s Auto Supplies Limited were purchased by Hagley’s Auto Supplies (Successors) Limited. As sole shareholders, Lyttleton and Madge Shirley, with over twenty years in the business, deemed this move a sound investment for Hagley’s.
The Mitchell’s Auto Supplies location and goodwill would be used for further market penetration given its ideal location along Hagley Park Road, which was fast becoming the central area for all the main auto parts retailers in Kingston.
Within the first year of making this significant acquisition it became clear that for the full potential of the business to be realized, the facilities would have to be expanded to improve customer comfort, increase the product range, as well as improve staff amenities. With these objectives in mind, the expansion program for the facilities at 61 Hagley Park Road was started.
With astute planning and coordination, the entire construction process took place with no closure of the business.In 2003 the adjacent property at 63 Hagley Park Road was purchased. This acquisition has enabled the expansion of the range of products and services to provide an even more comprehensive customer experience.
